Swimming is a popular sport. The experts say that it is a complete exercise as it benefits the whole body. People find it to be a relaxing form of exercise. There are a large number of people who love the sport. Among the different swimming techniques, the breaststroke is one that is liked by most swimmers. Not many of us know about the swimming techniques, so I decided to do a bit of self learning.
When you decide to learn swimming you have to learn the various techniques. Breaststroke is one such technique that is considered to be the most popular one. There is a reason for this. It has an easy technique that is not difficult to learn and most beginners when they learn the breaststroke learn to swim well. The swimmer can breathe in after completing each stroke cycle. In the swimming competitions, you will find that the breaststroke is one of the most popular and challenging strokes for the swimmers.
For someone who is learning to swim well, breaststroke can be the ideal technique to begin with. As the first step, you will have to learn to stand in the upright position and then bend your legs so that they move up to your chest. Then you will join your hands by holding your palms together. After that you jump into the water like a frog by applying a jerk. It is called the frog kick. As the immediate next step, your body must be streamlined and to do this your toes must be pointed behind and your hands must be extended ahead.
Once your hands are extended forward, you will have to learn to turn your palms outwards. Once you do that you need to pull your hands behind you. This way you create a circular motion and you move forward. Remember to get your hands back in the previous prayer position again. When you take your hands behind for the circular motion, you need to take your head above the water level. For this, you must use the thrust to be able to take a breath. The swimmer glides for a moment after completing the stroke and then repeats the entire cycle.
Once you start to swim, with daily practice the stroke becomes easier. In the beginning, you may not find it that simple. In fact it might take sometime to learn the technique but it is only natural for the beginner to pick up the stroke gradually. Once you learn it, believe me you are going to enjoy swimming breaststroke.
