Kelowna Inground Pool
If you are in the market for an inground pool in Kelowna, here are some suggestions to get you started in the right direction:
1. BUDGET. What will your budget be for this project? This could well be your most important decision and may determine the size of the pool and any other options such as decking or landscaping. It may influence the design, the accessories, and so on, but it should never influence the safety and proper function of your pool.
2. KELOWNA SAFETY STANDARDS. Consult with the City of Kelowna Bylaws for residential swimming Pools on the local standard safety requirements for inground pools. Once you have a price you can affix to the safety equipment needed, then you will be in a better position to determine how much you have left to spend on the many other aspects of pool construction.
3. OPTIONS. Take time to consider your many options such as the type of shell, the shape, colour and design of the liner, the design of the steps, numerous accessories such as handrails, slides, waterfalls, jet streams, lights, and vanishing edges.
• Many Kelowna inground pool owners have chosen a composite, single piece fiberglass shell construction for its lightweight, yet incredibly durable finish, and its superior flexibility for our Canadian climate changes. Normally, Kelowna winters are very mild, so there would be little likelihood of shell damage due to weather. Another advantage to the fiberglass shell is its imperviousness to corrosion and deterioration from weather. Of course, Fiberglass Pools are more expensive to install, but to balance the equation fewer chemicals are needed to maintain the correct water conditions, and with better insulation, the heating bills are less.
• Other options for inground pools include built-in water fitness equipment, and equipment which enables stationary swimming (great for compact pools in small spaces).
4. INSTALLATION. Another important decision to make is who will do the pool installation. Your pool dealership will likely have its own installation company and this service may come automatically with the purchase of the pool, but you should check this out before signing on the dotted line. With the hefty purchase price of an inground pool, you want to stay within your budget if possible.
5. WARRANTY. Make sure your inground pool dealership carries a good warranty on products and services. Investigate as to whether their service department is local and whether their technicians are adequately trained to undertake warranty work.
6. Pool Maintenance. Find out what regular maintenance is required to keep your pool in peak performance, and make sure you understand the maintenance procedures completely. Pool malfunction and repair can often be linked back to the owner failing to do the proper maintenance on a regular basis, thus causing himself unnecessary expense and costly repairs. Unfortunately, many pool owners fail to understand this, and become frustrated when constant repairs are required.
An inground pool can be a wonderful investment providing you with years of relaxation and enjoyment in the comfort and privacy of your own back yard. It will require due diligence in caring for and maintaining it properly, but if this is carried out as instructed, you will enjoy your luxurious pool for a very long time.
