Swimming Pool Net

Bottomless swimming pool?
I once heard there was a “bottomless” public swimming pool in Tampa, Florida back in the 60′s.
From what I know I guessing it was located at or near Lowry Park.
I was told there was a whirlpool like effect in the middle and there was a safety net about 12 feet down to prevent swimmers from being taken away to wherever it lead.
I can’t seem to find anything on it.
Anyone have any recollections or a link in which I might get some more info.
Don’t know of one near Tampa…but could it have been Silver Springs…or one of the other similar springs in Florida?
